So I hit a little jackpot!!! It's been a while but man it paid off. I went to an old flea market place and hit some gold and alittle silver. I was only able to hit about half of it .but I have permission to go back any time. Sorry about to pictures I was very tired. HH everyone.
Here is the inscription on the spoon. I'm pretty sure it is. It was black and I cleaned it with cigarette ashes. I wish that stao e was in there lol but I'll take it. I didn't weight it yet have to get home.
I wonder if the spoon is plated. The word triple makes me think that. Nice ring. 8 grams brings $225.
I think that ring on the bottom left in the above photo is stainless steel, although it is not marked. 3 of the 5 here are marked and all of the tungsten are marked. Tungsten on the left, stainless steel on the right.
When he weighed it I couldn't see the weight he said something pennyweights and then Mark the number down on the sheet of paper 175 because I had some other stuff that I was getting rid of. I should have asked him,but I was excited when I saw it was worth that much. But I have to upload my last hunt when I get home so there are a few cool things there also.
Pennyweight is a more precise measurement. There are 20 pennyweights in a troy ounce. There are 480 grains in a troy ounce. So each penny weight is 24 grains which can be broken down into many fractions. If he is not ripping you off and taking a normal % profit for himself, (this is why you must always weigh your gold and know what it is worth before bringing it in. Grams divided by 31.1 x 14 divided by 24 x spot price will tell you the value for 14K.) 10K would be 10/24 and 18 would be 18/24. My gold guy used to take around 19% or so which was fair as he has to pay the smelter 5-6% plus he had a brick amd mortar store with employees, and rent and salaries are not free. At $1500 per ounce, at 8 grams $225 value -$45 = $180. So I may have been very close with my 8 gram guess. But you can never trust gold buyers, you must know what your stuff weighs and is worth before going in.
Now that I know this I will use this formula to figure out what I have. If I'm taking the time to go out pay gas, ect I'm going to try my best to get the most out of what I'm doing. Thanks Mike for the great info and always being there to help out.
