Always a good spot. I got a good signal on the ring and it looked right, but there's no stamp so I am not sure. GF will take it to get it tested. The dragon on one side with the word Dragon and Chinese characters. On the reverse, there is a yin/yang in the center and what appears to be the regular zodiac around in little circles, and not the Chinese calendar.
That was a good spot, I really like the dragon.I didn't get to go out this weekend so I'm going to have to go in the middle of the week. I like the cross too. Does it have a little corrosion it? I was just wondering what kind of metal that was.
Got a junky signal on the cross. IDK what it is, nickel alloy perhaps. It didn't shine up like silver will, and there's no stamp.
I found a great new place yesterday, didn't get to this until now. There was a pool, volleyball court, kids playgroung, baseball and football fields. The wheats were both on the playground part of the complex. I'm just so surprized that noone had hit this place yet. The thing is I didn't get finished with the place,my knees started giving me trouble lol.
1952 silver quarter. A lot of snow Friday and even though it melted yesterday, some areas had large patches of frozen tundra. It was like ice fishing. The quarter is shinier in hand.
Nice find Mike! I can't wait to find a 90% coin. I need to get to alittle older places then I've been going. But I find that their not as profitable, even if I did find that one silver. I want to use my time wisely, it just makes more sense to me. Staying with parks and schools. Is that your first silver for that year?
I got a ring last week which gave me a good signal and looked right but it's not stamped. It could be a home made job. GF will get it tested when she goes to the place to buy beads/ silver etc. Oh for 1952. I was thinking for 2019. I have a 1944 Merc, a 1964 Rosie, 1944-S war nickel and now the 1952 Q. I have a 1952-D Q that I found on the floor of a pool hall 35 years ago, but for metal detecting that's it. And it's all just park and school playgrounds. I'm not really digging up any old ground. Just lucky finds. I'd like to get a 40% half.
Sweet! I love the color, and nice details too. I mean hey for a coin in the ground it looks good. But I just love all coins so.....
Found a 1946 penny. My theory on the knife is that some homeless guy was sleeping in the park and stashed it under the wood chips. But I can't leave it there because kids play there, they will find it and someone will get hurt.
So you Never do older ground? Because I don't like digging fields and stuff like that,I never find anything.
All of that is form the last 3 years but one coin? That's awesome! I've only found 4 in all this time. That is something because I can't find them as EVERYONE knows lol. But I think that's coming to an end soon. I think my wife is buying me an AT for my birthday,it's on the 8th. Crossing my fingers.
Up and down, back and forth! Once you find your target, move your coil up,down, back and forth over and over and you can almost get right on it. I use a steak knife to cut a small hole around the target, about the size of my coil. This cuts all the roots holding the plug down. A small shovel should do the rest of the work. most times when that plug pops the coin is right there showing. Hope this helps.
I have done the ground thing, and gotten some stuff. But it's such a pain to dig up the sod and put it back. 9 more quarters for 5000.
Hey thanks for the info! I'll try it this weekend. Do you use a pinpointer? I always get the depth way wrong too.
