well, i just got a metal detector yesterday and am excited about using it. traded an rc car for it. from what i have been told, there are old colonial trails right around my house. my fiances grandpa has found old coins just digging in the gardens, so i thought, with a metal detector the possibilities of finding something is pretty good. i have used metal detectors before down at the beach. found mostly soda can tabs, change and an occasional piece of jewelry. you probably wont find anything rare at the beach. just the stuff that people lose when they shake the sand off of their towels.
well, i got to use my metal detector the other day. So far nothing but trash and ticks.(parasites) I think i will wait til the colder months when the ticks die out. but not too cold or the ground will be hard. Def taking it to the beach in Aug. when I go on the honeymoon. I had to agree not to spend the whole time searching the sands. But at least shes letting me take it.
If you push the auto notch button on the far bottom right you should eliminate a lot of trash. You will also lose your ability to find zinclons, but I'll take missing out on $.03 for not digging up 26 soda cans.
The last thing I hit that was even worth mentioning was 2 weeks ago....a standing lib quarter with the date worn off, a sterling spoon, and a readers digest square aluminum emblem. (a little more scarce than their round "award" tokens) I`m using a Whites Spectra V3i that I have had for a few months now. It`s a very technical machine, but I`m fascinated with all of the features and adjustments it has.
