Metal detecting

I have the Minelab 2300. It is more for the high mineralized areas here in the western states. We have a lot of "Hot Rocks" here in Arizona. This detector will not pick up the not rocks and will still find small metal like bird shot. I use it mostly for gold nugget hunting.

SHOP AROUND !!

Many of those extras are not necessary plus this guy told you that he is on a limited budget . He’s not buying a $2500 CTX

 

I've always favored the cheapest detector that will do the job. Paying attention to sounds will get maximum performance from cheaper detectors. If you calculate that your $1000 machines require you to dig up 100,000 zinc lincolns you are less anxious to set your break even price so high. Some conditions are best handled by stone age BFO detectors but even older TR detectors can be forced to act like a BFO and handle high mineral condition. If you must have the newest available technology there is always someone out there who bought it and didn't like metal detecting. Their detector is sitting in a closet somewhere or being sold at a very deep discount. Spend your winter months looking for your dream machine at a discount price. You'll be very glad you did. I spent every weekend from 1973 to 1974 working the city parks in San Francisco and did not find the key date lincolns and Indians. I did find older Indians and lots of high grade teen wheats but I learned to my satisfaction that there is a good reason for some coins to be key dates. If they did not circulate you will not be finding them very often.
