But after doing hours of research, I narrowed it down to two possible coins; 1697 William III (shown in picture) - or a - William and Mary (two years older, but same features)</p><p> </p><p>From what I found, the ribbon in the hair is sort of a finger print for the coin. No two years looks just alike. The 1697 is the only issue that matched. Once that was matched, I checked any other feature I could make out - and they all matched as well.</p><p> </p><p>New England Metal Detecting is so damn awesome! I'm heading back to my spot this weekend. It's virgin ground, this much I know. Structures have not even been there since early 1800s, and a lot of money changed hands at the location.
