Hello everyone, In the past 14+ years I have Metal Detected a total of 228 Winged Liberty Head Dimes aka Mercury Dimes. Today I set up a task to see if I would be able to fill up an entire Whitman Coin Folder made for Mercury Dimes 1916 to 1945 It took me about an hour to go through each coin and I was sure that I was able to complete the album. But that wasn't the case So, I will have to start a new Bucket List for my detecting adventures! These are the years and Mints that are missing - 1916-D 1917-D 1919-D 1919-S 1920-S 1921-P 1921-D 1924-P 1924-D 1925-D 1925-S 1926-D 1926-S 1927-D 1927-S 1928-S 1929-D 1929-S 1930-P 1930-S 1931-P 1931-D 1931-S 1934-D 1935-S 1936-D 1936-S 1937-D 1937-S 1938-S 1939-D 1939-S 1940-S 1945-D 1945-S And you all must know. I'm only doing this challenge for fun. I don't really like filling up coin folders and keeping them stored in that manner. I also will not be filling up any other folders with the many other silver coin denominations I have detected. And finally, I don't want any offers for any of the coins needed to complete the album
It's interesting to look at the distribution versus the mintages and consider where you might be detecting geographically. 1917 and 1924 you have the S but not the D for example (I'm not counting 1916). 1920, 1928, 1935, 1938 and 1940 you have the D but not the S. Have you counted them up by year and mint?
That is an awesome project, Ed. Our hobby demands that we do it our own way. And, this certainly is your way. I will follow it with great interest.
