Hello everyone, Yesterday I did a 6-hour dirt fishing hunt at Brooklyn's Prospect Park. I decided to hit a new area near one of its lakes that I had avoided over the years. It has always been overgrown with plants and weeds. I had better access to the spot yesterday. And I got great results in my finds! I now have a total of 21 silver coins detected in NYC for 2026. Not including the 36 silvers from the seeded hunt last week in South Carolina. 3 Silver Dimes 2 Silver War Nickels - Both 1945 P Indian Head Cents Corroded Buffalo Nickel 11 Wheat Cents Everything Miscellaneous Metals - Closeup Picture 1930's Vintage CHECKER Emblem (Car) NYC Subway Token Park Picture
What a great day you had! Those silver nickels are in really good shape and the dimes aren’t bad either. At least you had a great time doing something you love to do.
Oh boy, what a nice haul, you must be really excited, duh. I guess you realize by now that I'm quite jealous. It's because all I find is cola, beer, tabs, and cans of various types, geez anyway.
Paddyman. What make and model detector do you have? I'll put in a request to my wife for a Christmas present come fall. There are many gulf coast islands I'd love to explore. Yar!
Nice finds. Oh boy! 5 hours? I'm exhausted after just 2 hours. Congratulations! I just found a new spot also. It's on a Church's land. How do I approach them. It's a Congregational church property.
Sorry for the late response. I have the NOKTA Legend it's an expert level metal detector. But I suggest another model made by Nokta which are simpler. The Nokta Score, Double Score and Triple Score. They are similar to my machine but easier to use
How much of a drag would it be for a former athlete but old assed 70 year old man to operate? It matters. lol
My Nokta Simplx, even with the 11" coil is wicked light. The make the coils even smaller for "trashy areas". Pace yourself and take many cigarette breaks.
