Thanks for the advice, detecting here is very different to detecting back in England ( there is more red tape and laws to abide by ) I will just let him find some planted treasures for now and if he continues the hobby I will take him somewhere next year where he can make some genuine and interesting finds ( fingers crossed )

Here is an example of curb hunting finds. Those are emeralds for hour marks and each is outlined in gold and the minute marks are dots of gold.
