Hi all, Did a short 3 hour detecting hunt at my local park. Found US Coins and Tokens.. Totals 25C - 13 each 10C - 7 each 5C - 9 each 1C - 23 each 2 Tokens - Arcade & Restroom 1 Pocket Watch (modern) 2 - Misc Metal
This was my mantra in Munich. Didn't have the requisite change to get into the restroom at the train station. Was almost a bad day.
The French have a better bearing on things......pissour. Given the option though, I'd rather .............never mind.
The English have an entirely different bearing on things...When I lived there, it was a free for all haha. The world is your urinal. London.
And we've totally hijacked Paddys' thread.........sorry dear fellow, but that token needed to be addressed.
Very cool @paddyman98. The only problem I see is with the restroom token. . . It’s a good haul between NYC and Indianapolis if ya gotta go.
@paddyman98 I do have a serious question. Before I ask, realize that I know absolutely nothing about metal detecting. How often do you go back to the same location and still have a productive hunt?
The wife and I went antique hunting today, but I didn't find a blasted thing that I wanted.............but she did, Lord help me.......
I like that last watch! Have you ever reunited an owner with something lost? Also, what do you do with coins no longer fit for circulation?
Parks and beaches (sand) are great. Just know that there are recently dropped top finds and then there is old buried finds. So when I go to my local park 75% of the items are recently lost items. Also I have different sized coils. When I feel like digging for deeper items I use my large coil, since it detects deeper. So every hunt varies. The seasons can also affect my finds.. Summer = more people at the beach more finds Winter = less people less finds Then there is the weather. I get better signals after it rains when the ground is wet than after a few dry days. A day after a storm at the beach creates cuts in the sand revealing items not detected before. Low tides are better than high tides at the beach. Metal Detecting is an art with science and meteorology involved! Get it?
Thanks @paddyman98! Metal detecting has always interested me, I’ve just never taken the time to understand and get into it.
I have the AV Minelab CTX 3030 $2500.00 So for you.. Garret has some nice detectors called the Ace series.. Ace 400 is what I recommend. www.kellycodetectors.com/catalog/search/result/?c=&q=Ace+400
