It's a hot one in NYC! 97 Degrees Fahrenheit (36 Degrees Celsius) This morning I decided to go Dirt Fishing and in 2 hours I dug up or pulled up (not really buried) these handful of US coins. My best find was a fairly neat 1942 Winged Liberty Head aka Mercury Dime - I could not decide which close up picture to post so I decided to post both sets - ENJOY
I love the feeling when a nice shiny silver comes out of the ground! When I see the silver ID on my detector I make sure I dig slow and carefully. Lucky it was buried in soft soil in an old grassy area. If it were in compacted dirt it would of been stained (Environmental damaged) and/or scratched up. Truth that I have been finding less silver recently.
When I used to find silver regularly, I always kept a pill bottle of water in my pouch. As soon as I dug it, it went into the water to keep the dirt soft. then same with Indian head cents, and large cents.
