Wow, I love seeing your grandfathers collection. Certainly had a good eye and I'm assuming was at least somewhat active in the numismatic world. This makes me sentimental as I have a few morgan dollars that were my great-grandfaters pocket pieces, gifted to me by my grandfather when he learned I enjoyed coins. He made me promise to neer get rid of them, and I promised. I meant it, too, and those coins sit in my drawer at home.
Hole is empty. Grandad's full collection has been in my parent's safety deposit box since his death. Dad died in 2019. Mom is on hospice thus we just cleaned out the box on Monday.
Nice! a whitman bookshelf album. If you don't mind me asking what's the copyright on it please? (yeah, I'm a nerd)
That’s worth quite a bit I should think. That’s about as complete a collection as anybody can reasonably get without getting roached coins or breaking the bank. Nice
Nice! He's got the 1921 and the 1921-D, which are also keys to the series. Why did he put an asterisk next to those? Did he plan to upgrade them? Your grandpa knew what he was doing.
Glad you kept it and didnt just pop the coins out and spend them like some peoples grand kids do. Thats how I got my 1922 D wheat cent and a near complete set of Roosevelt silver dimes in a dime box. Got the entire set except for a 1946
What a beautiful momento! I hope you're fortunate enough to complete it one day, however unlikely you are to get a 42 over 41 in your change at the gas station.
