I found this in a roll of Wheats. This appears to be a very nice coin for it's age. Anyonecare to guess on a grade for this?

    I'll guess AU 50-55

Dependent upon the TPG I'd expect it to grade from Fine to EF, but I personally would grade it as F12.

I'm not good at grading circulated coins, I always forget the rules. And a circulated 1944 Merc is worth melt so the actual grade is kinda moot.

That was not pointed specifically at you. At the time I posted that, we had 4 guesses - F12, low vf, XF, and AU50-55. That is a 10 grade range in only 4 guesses!

I know, but after looking at the coin again, I think it is probably high VF, low XF

After reviewing my ANA book and looking at some images on Great Collections, I think you can make a case for XF40 or XF45.

I agree with Paul. It's not MS.

    XF45?

The reverse is a high XF or low AU, but the obverse is only a low XF, so I'd grade it XF.

Giving the glare where I want to see coin (if that makes an sense) the benefit of the doubt, EF45/AU50.

I'm in no way an expert on Mercury Dimes but am I the only one that notices the clash on this coin?

Ah, you made me look, Hommer. Where are you looking? I don't see anything.
