    Does look like a spot weld type of pmd to leave that sort of mark.

    Someone started a hole, it did not go thru the coin.
    Reverse: same thing.

    anyway, it is PMD [Post Mint Damage]

    value?

    melt for the silver.
    nothing more.

    It's just damage. We could spend all day guessing what caused it. Looks like a termite hole to me.:D

    Medal muching termites.... ! :arghh::wideyed::woot::eek: ! I do recall an episode on the Rocky & Bullwinkle show. Where there were medal munching Mice eating TV antennas in Frostbite Falls Minnesota . God I only hope the termites start there first..... do we have any member in Frostbite Falls?
