Meow has just received Meow's second CGC submission. As for coins and CRH, Meow at the moment is only really interested in OBW BU quarter rolls. Meow tries to keep a fairly large amount of every issue, but kinda missed out on some or did not get enough of them to make Meow happy. Like Meow only got 20 rolls of 2022 d Anna May Wong ones and only one darn roll of the 2023 Hawaiian one.

So if anyone was interested in Meow's CGC results here they are. Note that Meow grades some identical ones from last time or sent in multiple of the same issues at one time. As Meow has many as 150 copies of a comic like ASM 363.

Amazing Spiderman 361 newsstand hoped for 9.2 got a 9.8!!!!!
    Amazing Siderman 362 x2 hoped for 9.8 got 9.6s
    Amazing Spiderman 363 x3 hoped for 9.8 got two 9.6 and a 8
    Avengers annual 10 (1st Rogue) hoped for 8 or 8.5 got a 9!!
    X Force 11 (1st Domino) hoped for 9.8 got a 9.8
    New Mutants 100 x2 hoped for 9.8s got 9.8s
    Namor 1 hoped for 9.8 got a 9.6
    Transformers 2 hoped for 9.8 got a 9????
    Transformers 3 hoped for 9.8 got a 9.4

Meow is still wary of sending in some of the more valuable items in the Cat Hoard. So at the moment is just sending in stuff Meow has a lot of or minor stuff that turns up in the hoard.

When I read your posts I’m reminded of that Lawyer that appeared by Zoom using his granddaughter’s computer with the Cat filter. Can you assure us you’re not a cat?

    Interesting results.

Meow could compare the books carefully before sending them out and start to learn what specifically the graders are looking for.

I would GUESS it's small things, both printing (uneven, misprints not enough to be an error - that would be a slippery slope), folds, pinholes, and stuff like that ????

Yes, Meow thinks that the minor error in the printing process may be the problem why Meow's ASMs 362s and 363s cant get 9.8s. They are very nice copies, but the have a spine flaw. They are not folded perfectly. One staple is in the middle or back, and the other more on the front. As opposed to both being in the center which causes extra spine stress. But Meow sure feels that certain comics are mysteriously graded harsher more than others. So anyone else here have any items they Catsonally graded? Including coins. What process do you use to determine what to send in?

Grading can be pricey too, and the just raised the fees again. So Meow cant do it that often. Also Meow did not peek at the invoice online in advance this time so the results where a surprise good or bad to Meow. Meow was super excited when the package arrived.

I'm a coin guy and the area I'm interested in gets pricey quickly. So I mostly buy already slabbed for my real collections.

I have a bunch of contemporary counterfeit three cent silvers I need to compare against the book to identify variety then send to ICG. They are the only ones who will slab them in a bright yellow "educational" slab. So it's protection not grades.

Last time I sent coins it was ten to NGC and I was about 50% spot on. 30% came back cleaned (I'm still learning how to identfy that in mid-grade circulated coins). One blow out up (I thought it was XF and it came back MS) and one I thought was XF came back F).

Or, I'm still learning and don't know much.

May I make a suggestion even though comic books aren't in my reading group. I do not know if they inspect each page for ear folds or roughness, stains, etc. But if you have access to a dealer, especially one that may buy and sell with experience. You might ask him/her/them to go through one of the higher graded ones and explain what they see, that perhaps caused the tiny catnips decrease. Even if they sold it to you as a 10.0, they didn't grade it themselves. This process is done often with coins. Sounds like fun in a purry way. Jim

    Good idea @desertgem

Also: The grading company may setup up at a show. They usually (especially during the slow hours) will review items and give you an informal opinion. One caution is that the people who receive the submissions are probably not graders. But they generally have SOME knowledge about the items.
