Ireland&#039;s Mint apparently randomly distributed the years for the 1940&#039;s sets. All of the silvers are from 1942, while the lower denominations are all from 1949. It&#039;s also strange that despite the much lower mintage of the 1949 set of about 3-4 times less than the 1942 mintage, some of the 1942 counterparts are valued more. Perhaps WWII had something to do with those coins - maybe they were melted down, sent / sold off as a huge hoard, etc.</p><p><br /></p><p>Anyway, I&#039;ll submit the ones that I&#039;ll at least break even on the cost of submission. This will entirely depend on the grade. What would you grade them as, and any idea on value? And, too bad NGC doesn&#039;t put sets into one large slab anymore - I would have wanted that.</p><p><br /></p><p>By the way, all of the coins have full cartwheel luster like this one directly below. The direct shots were more blurry but show the cartwheel luster, whereas the angled shots seem to have a matte appearance but shows the full range of colors seen in real life.
