[QUOTE="lincolncent, post: 906651, member: 22506"]Howdy guys. Not much of a person to get in on these things but had to jump in on this one as I am 18 and consider myself one of these "younger collectors." First off, calcualtors are amazing and if you'd ever taken calculas (not saying you haven't) you'd appreciate them a lot. Every generation has had the exact same complaint as you are having. As technology advances we are growing significantly more independant from eachother. I'm sure your parents complained about how "rowdy" kids were when you were younger. Each generation is completely different from the one before it. Just compare how kids in the 40's and 50's to kids in the 60's and 70's. I agree with you on the politically correct part of education though. I know of a teacher who was fired for having a little Lords Prayer thing IN HER DESK and giving her children time to pray before lunch. Not making them, just giving them like two minutes to do it before they left. I come from a town who puts little emphasis on education (imo). We encourage our kids to graduate but not necessarily to succeed. Current (american) high school education will no more prepare a kid for the real world today then will going to the movies prepare you for the zombie apocolypse. And then there's the parents. You have to realize that how kids act is based off how their parents raised them. Sure, you have the minority that go all rebelious and such but a large emphasis on how we act when we are older is based on how we were raised. If a parent raises a child and gives them little attention (most families have two working parents) and no responsibilities (just look around and see how many teenagers have jobs), they are more likely to be rebelious and disrespect authority. Personally, I was raised by good, Christian parents and have the utmost respect for anyone older than me (who knows what they're talking about of course). I see no problem with disciplining the young (paddles in school would be great) and can see your point of view. However, us young folks aren't near as bad as you may think. I enjoy this forum and have learned a lot from it. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Tyler

P.S. I'm pretty sure I misspelled some words.
