Found this set of sterling silver 12 pc set of Towle flatware at an 1820 brickhouse with granite lentils over windows, said "Estate Sale" girl said it was her great grandmothers? Asked $100 I offered here $60 and now have 4.29 lbs. of Sterling?
If its sterling it would be marked on the underside on the handle. If it really is all sterling you hit the jackpot. If its silver plated its worth about a dollar a pound.

It always makes me a little sad to see a family heirloom reduced to a commodity. But it makes me sadder to see people saddled with ever-growing piles of stuff just because it once meant something to an ancestor. So I'm trying to get over it.

Just back from trying to buy 3 Tulip lamp and 2 Ceiling stained lead glass shades that are beautiful 'not Tiffany" but gorgeous. She said as long as you're not a dealer. Sterling or .925 silver is worth a small fortune so it it’s silver you basically stole them from the seller.
Yeah, having verified the weight and composition, I think I'd be compelled to go back and treat her a bit better. I know sterling trades at a discount, but five cents on the dollar is beyond lowball.
