try to explaine that one i'm sure was your first thought.

its very true that i own the name as i own many other for business ventures but the company is not mine. i make no money off of it, i pay what you pay and i get no special treatment.

my only benefit is that if i chose to in the future i have first choice to purchase the company if the owner sells.
    whaT ELSE CAN I SAY.

    OK,

SO YOUR SAYING JUST BECAUSE PCGS HAS BEEN AROUND FOR EVER THAT THEY ARE REPUTABLE BUT A NEW COMPANY IS NOT AND SHOULD NOT BE GRADING COINS?
THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENCE. sorry for the caps. i'm not yelling.

Why would you not use a cheap fast company to help yours. Have you ever owned your own business. Wall street would eat up any oine who did not as long as the service was good.

you can yell, Todd... it's ok.

see, it's sort of like a conflict of interest. If you don't see it, allow me to illustrate it:

You own the company... the company grades your coins... you sell those coins for profit. The higher the grade, the better the profit. The more the profit, the happier the seller... which brings me back to the seller who own the coin grading company.

What do you think the end result is going to be, Todd?

It is hard for me to comment as I am new to this and not good at grading MS coins. Circulated coins are much easier to grade.

I see you are in Prescott Valley. I might stop in next time I am in the area.

Just a suggestion - I would sell the web site to the owner of the business, as the appearance of impropriety can be as bad as impropriety itself and is not good for your business (just my opinion).

This is actually what you said... and actually, even if what you claim now is true - FSG does have something to do with JTB Coins - the same person owns the 'businesses'.

    Isn't that true?

    ok

so your telling me that i'm getting special treatment because i own the name? Do you really think that is happening. do you think that it happens with the ceo of pcgs when he sells his graded coins from pcgs. he even owns the company. all i have is the right to the name.
i don't get it but if you really feel its a conflict i would love to hear why

How many people have to call you a jerk before you wonder if it's true? I don't care if you banned me from every buying from you again. That just means I won't get ripped off from you again. Have a nice life.

how????? either i missing something or you are. having the rights to a name is not the same as owning the company? crap if that were true i might just stop selling on ebay and make my money grading coins.

    hmmmmm,

well spaceboy as of this date and 2700 transactions 4 people have called me a jerk. i think it might take more.

Well, actually it's called integrity, Todd. See, the CEO of PCGS cannot sell PCGS graded coins... in fact, none of the graders can, either, if I am not mistaken.

see, it would be a conflict of interest. One grading company sites that their employees can't even own rare coins (can't 'member which though).

and as far as you getting special treatment - I'm not saying anything of the sort! I have made no accusations in this thread. I am just asking questions - and that is all.

Yeah, but without you to sell them, who's going to pay you?

The guy who sells SGS coins has a whole lot of positive transactions, too.

I've always wondered how that works...

i know you have made no accusations and i appreciate talking with a nice guy as you have been but you are wrong about one thing. the ceo of pcgs does in fact sell graded coins from pcgs.
as far as my intigrity goes it is very hi.
i could not sell a coin if i did not believe in the grade.

    ok,

i do not recieve any money from fsg. i pay what everyone else pays. i am not on there board if they have one. i don't collect a check from them.

in this case do you still feel there is a conflict of interest. i will very seriously concoider your imput.

i have bought many domain name for the purpose of future sales. when i started selling coins i bought domain names for every part of the coin business i could think of. i met some people at an ebay convention in phoenix that were looking to start businesses. that was when we talked about it and i sold them the right to use the name.

I will give you my honest opinion.

Sell only coins that are fairly graded. If you slab for purposes of gaining trust, use trustworthy grading services - most will agree that the big four are the better places to trust. Will they be right all the time? No, they won't. But they have reputation built in the hobby, and that means a lot.

Further, respect the hobby, not the profits. It is not, in fact, a dog eat dog business. It is a hobby for enjoyment, education, and interest. Only the people that treat it like a dog eat dog business cause it to be so.

This is my last offering to this thread. I hope you will honestly consider it.
