I would like to see Laura Gardin Fraser as an honoree.

    I'm submitting a suggestion I made months ago...Molly Pitcher!!!

Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley.... "Molly Pitcher"

A heroine in the Revolutionary War. Carried water to American soldiers during the Battle of Monmouth during the American Revolution 1778, then took over for her husband on the battlefield when he was no longer able to fight.

A soldier who witnessed her in action wrote about in his diary, without referring to the woman involved by name: “While in the act of reaching a cartridge and having one of her feet as far before the other as she could step, a cannon shot from the enemy passed directly between her legs without doing any other damage than carrying away all the lower part of her petticoat.”
It's believed she said something like, “Well, that could have been worse,” then returned to firing her cannon.

Why is google managing the submission process?

(Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread, there are many good candidates for this program)

Google isn't managing it...The National Women's History Museum is just using a google submission tool, as many millions of others are. There are plenty of those types of submission forms to use and choose from for just about any purpose.

As stated before, Hattie McDaniel would be an excellent and worthy choice. in my opinion.

Has there been a coin for Mother Teresa/Theresa? Are only US women considered candidates?

One interesting note is that on the coin Sally Ride is identified as "Dr. Sally Ride".

She has a doctorate in Physics but is not a medical doctor.

    :)

People with a PhD Doctorate of Philosophy or Education Doctorate, but are not medical doctors are also addressed as Dr./Doctor as respect for their education and hard work.

Betsy Ross, Molly Pitcher and many other women from our past should be honored first.

Here are two photos that I took of Maya Angelou on January 14, 2008.
She was speaking at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.
I believe she had a stroke a few years before these were taken.

    Sybil Ludington

    Sybil Ludington
The daughter of Colonel Henry Ludington, Sybil, at the young age of sixteen, would make a journey double to that of Revere (totaling 40 miles) to warn the colonists at Danbury, Connecticut of the approach of the British

Unfortunately Betty Boop is a fictional character, so I doubt she'll make the cut. And Betty White is still alive, so that cuts her out of contention. But I'm not against a Golden Girls themed quarter program, I'll make that clear. Used to watch the show all the time with my granny.
