Unless someone reputable like GD gives us info to the contrary, I don't see how this is a COIN TALK thread.

This should be in that goofy PRWE or General Discussion or whatever you call it thread.

The top of the page says "Coin Chat Please use this section for discussion of numismatic topics that don't fit in other sections."

I consider PCGS to be a numismatic topic. Sure it's got a tangent or two, but what thread doesn't?

Or are tangents frowned upon in here? If they are, who decides what's too tangential? If this thread is too tangential, why hasn't it been acted on?

Inquiring minds of newbies to this site would like to know.

    I wasn't ranting... I also didn't start this thread.

Yes I admit I am a new user here, (look to the left, it's not like it's hard to see) but I am very well versed in numismatics and chat forums. I first started with BBS's in 1981. I'm not a newbie to chatting or proper etiquette.

Thank you for your kind, if not veiled and highly insulting, invitation to leave, but I choose not to.

Please tell us just what you said. I agree that the new rules are tough but they are really easy to understand.

Some years back PCGS threatened to shut down the coin forum completely due to all the silly stuff, vulgar implimentations, piling up useless conversatioins and lots of other reasons. It never happened but probably should have. I tried using that forum some years back and just got irritated and for me, not easy to do.

AHHH so your catching on that we spy on new members with posts like this just to see how much you can take.
PS: All new members are supposed to by coffee for the older members. Just pour it on your monitor and we'll get it. :goofer:
OOOPPPS, coffee is not coin related.

He wasn't telling you to leave - he was suggesting that this thread be moved to either the GD forum or the PRWE Forum that is a sister forum to CT. The GD forum is a forum here on CT that is for off-topic threads.

Well, coffee time was about 12 hours ago (time for something stronger) but I am, at this time, smoking my pipe. Perhaps that's the smoke? :)

I'll take your word for that. I'll also try to give a bit more doubt benefit, but as I've said, I've been doing this for a long time and do not mistake the tone of posts very often.

That being said, if he was suggesting that the thread be moved, he shouldn't have directed his comments in my direction.

I don't let much go by, especially veiled threats and passive-aggressive insults.

Now, back on topic. What's the latest on banning at the PCGS forums?

He really was suggesting this thread be moved. Honestly.

Trust me, it wasn't directed at you personally, rather, it was more a comment about how the post (itself) probably belonged in another section of the public forum......

I post occasionally over there but don't keep up with it as there are so many threads, it is difficult to catch even a small percentage of what goes by. I am not commenting on the OP because I don't know who he was over there or the circumstances of the banning, but prior to the posting of the new rules by Don Willis, the tone and outright bashing by a few posters seemed to be escalating and was turning a lot of people off. I think some bannings were necessary to get the place back under control. I also think a number of the bammed were warned.

There's an open forum refuge where it seems just about anything goes so a number of the banned can freely swing away there.

Used to be busy busy there 24 hours a day. Now, it's a 2 light town. Rumor has it 'moles' are looking to other forums (wouldn't be surprised if this was one of them) for members badmouthing things over there, badmouthing 'certain people', disagreeing with them. At least one person was banned for something said on another forum. Any CAC thread is automatically poofed...can't badmouth product.....I can say, one of those 'certain people' is a member that was recently re-instated, after a rather lengthy ban. Now, he's the 'New Sheriff in Town', thinks he's the do-all and end-all (granted, he IS a very knowledgable person), thinks his excrement smells like roses, and if you vehemently disagree with him or flat out diss him publicly, he runs to the powers-that-be, and odds are you won't be able to log on. Seems they just want 'Hitler Youth' being members there. Sad thing is, just by my posting this, I put myself at risk of bamming. Understandably, it IS their site, and they DO/CAN make the rules they want, much like this site. Just seems the 'new' powers that be only want Stepford Wives posting. Reigns changed and BAM, the executioner was kept busy.

I agree with the comment it COULD hurt submissions, which could be a boon for NGC. When you toss long-timemembers off, who shared their knowledge, AND who were regular submitters, for speaking just like they always had for years, and were seemingly abiding by the rules, it causes feelings to change.....and it will take a big change to right the boat, if it isn't already too late. I mean, getting bammed for statements on ANOTHER forum? Something has to change.
