Here is a coin I have wanted for a while, a coin of Mary, Queen of Scots. These tend to go for a bit of money, but the crust seemed to keep others away, which was in my favor. Mary I of Scotland (1542 - 1567 A.D.) Scotland AR Bawbee O: MARIA · D :G · REGINA · SCOTORV: A crowned thistle, 'M' to its left and 'R' to the right. R: OPPIDVM · EDINBVRGI, Saltire behind a crown, flanked by a cinquefoil on each side. Edinburgh mint 21mm 1.78g SCBC 5432
@Mat That is a very nice one. I have been looking for a coin of hers for over a year and somehow just have not found the right one yet. Congrats on this great addition.
Congrats on the coin @Mat it's a nice bawbee. A bawbee was worth 6d Scots, but only 1/2d English. Scottish coinage was much more heavily debased than English.
I had no clue what a "bawbee" was! LOL! That's a nice looking hammered coin @Mat , I love to have one of her coins.
