Maroon colored penny

    Has anybody on here ever seen a maroon penny it doesn't look like paint or die to me

    Copper can turn many different shades after years in circulation, I'd assume natural toning, wed need pics to know for sure though

    Yes, I have, but don't ask me what caused it once it left the Mint. It's not classified as an error.

    Well Jase (or Willie) welcome to CT...looks brown to me. BTW, unless you want to get attacked, do not call it a penny!

    I love this color on a cent. It truly is my favorite color for aging. I'm saving all of mine I come across just because I think they look cool. Why not. :joyful:
