So I set up today. Had a really good wholesale setup to the show. So far notable sales my 73-cc trade I hate to see go. And the 1787 fugio I posted to the newest acquisitions thread. But I sold a ton of lower priced especially cac stickered us type. Had a little success buying but not as much as usual seen nothing as far as better date and grade seated quarters and halves. Here’s a couple of my newps Priced right quality early us is hot. Cac stickered coins are hot. Quite a few less tables here than usual. Good security and well organized. Ernie runs a good show. Any ct members going tomorrow stop in and say hi
Was a bit over cooked for my taste but being decent I didn’t complain. Just usually better there. If you like medium rare you’d like it. I just personally prefer as close to raw as possible
You’re like my fiancé. She’s the same. I like it still alive. Thanks it’s nice. Is available but not out. I think a trip to New Jersey is in order for it. Any 1860s San Francisco dimes in high grade are brutally underrated. Rather Low mintages there and in Philadelphia and they were in a part of the world they were heavily used in commerce. Plus the hoarding of small silver during the war and the fact nobody collected by mintmarks then.... if you have a 1860s dime au or better in original condition you have an incredibly underrated and undervalued coin. I’ll take all I can get
That Merc is a beauty. I'm looking for a 44 like that but I don't require a bean. Same generation slab. It's the last coin I need for my birth year set. That's so nice I'll give it the Moose seal of approval.
I’ll keep my eyes out. This had a really funky color to the label. Either it faded out or was a bad dye lot
Ok so back in misty foggy damp Manchvegas. I stayed about 8 minutes away in Bedford. A lot of dealers looking around today too bought 2 more coins too lousy pics as both have nice colors
Ok. Was a busy day and a good crowd. I ended up having a good day. Half rollers were selling. From bust to barber. And of course early type and toners. Had dinner there before I went home and met @ziggy9 and his wife. Wicked nice guy. I won’t be there tomorrow but was well worth going for me. Sold 30+ coins and bought a pile of new stuff too. Lots more to post
Both the half dimes AND dimes made in San Francisco from 1863 to 1871 are like that. Forget AU, finding problem free examples for a reasonable price is difficult - almost every example is damaged. The ones that aren’t damaged are often listed for way above price guide value. I saw a damaged AU details 67-S half dime at a show for $30 once and had to buy it simply because it was priced near price guide value. To this day it’s my favorite “problem coin” in my collection.
I used to visit often coin shows run by Ernie in Massachusetts. I agree, they were well organized, well attended, and always plenty of interesting coins
