The area of what is now southern Thailand and the Malaysian state of Kelantan was once an independent Islamic Sultanate. This design of the hump bull or a deer bears strong Southern Indian Vijayanagar influences mixed in with Islamic elements. This iconic coin was adopted as the current official logo of the National Bank of Malaysia.
