(See this thread for background story, if you dare) I found these in the junk bin at a local coin shop. The diameters range from 5mm to 8mm. Anyone here handy with making jewelry? I would think that drilling a tiny hole in each and somehow (?) affixing them to an earring base would do the trick. Thoughts?
Cool idea. Depends on how you want them to hang/fit. I have some 1/10th AGE stud earrings...Not for me but they are neat.
Before you drill those holes, Here's a photo of the back of those love token earrings I mentioned before. I thought they were pretty cleanly done, and saved the front of the coin from the holes:
I'm assuming it's soldered on. Looks like it was done by someone who knew what they were doing (no globs of extra solder hanging around.)
Gave my sister two two-peso Mexican gold pieces and she had them put in a bezel to use as earrings. Couple of hundred for the coins and three hundred more for five-hundred dollar earrings...uh, not for me.
