You did the right thing. I was debating about selling some of my nicer coins for the need of the money and that is always a hard decision. Family is more important than coins all day. Grow a garden is my advice, if you don't have one. Cheap, healthy food and keeps you less sick. You can get meds at Walmart i think for cheap. Expired meds are just as good generally. Expiration dates of meds are mostly based on money and not science.

Sorry Biggie...nothing personal. I'm just trying to point out the hypocrisy and the selective rules that are enforced, depending on who they are.
Next time your wife need her meds, don't sell anything...You find yourself in that spot again, I'll wire ya the money. It'd be my good deed for the month.

Oh, probably as soon as one of them reads it would be my guess.

That's right Tom, we have special alarms that ring bells all over the place whenever the rules are broken. But of course those only go off when YOU break the rules. And yeah, we're verrrrry selective on who we allow to break the rules

Tom, they really do go by the alphabet rule, two names per month. This month it's names that begin with S or T. So they are not really selective!

This threads is hillarious. Doug, drink a couple more cups of coffee and tell us what you really think. I am laughing as I go out marketing for my job.

allright now, a few of you folks must be reading something I don't comprehend. What exactly is the "rules" infraction you are speaking about and second, what is so "hilarious" about this thread?

    Please explain?

I'm a little confused as well. Everthing seemed straight forward until someone started flaming for no reason.

Well I would just like to have them explain what the problem is.

Doug is always "fighting" with Tom first me second, and a few others about political correctness. Apparently the "rules" (though I don't know where they are that prohibit this) excludes political, war, religion talks. I aruge that is completely impossible and nothing but "fairness doctrine", censorship. All threads need to stay on topic and moderators help with that. But our money says "In God we USED to trust" and mintage of new types of coinage requires congressional acts, and war and political events have a direct relationship to bullion values and the coin market. This site censors such talks, which several of us feel should not occurr. We are only looking at half the picture. Heck- PCGs made a Barack slab or something for ASE's recently, if I recall , for our Commrad in power. Tom jabs a lot at Doug and Doug jabbed back on this thread. I just respectfully, disagree with Doug a lot, but hopefully it's Respectful and not insulting. That's the backstory that made me laugh. You could search all of Tom's post and see what I mean.

well I'm just wondering how and why some feel any of that apply to this thread and the OP.

    I agree.

    See Rule #8: http://www.cointalk.com/t34131/

This thread can be found under "Rules" on the main forum page between announcements and introductions. ;)

If you don't know the rules, then you need to stop for just a sec. and read them. When you joined CT you agreed to abide by the rules.

I don't really see how this thread got off on such a bad foot - it was kindof about coins, and then someone took it to bring up a political matter - that was totally uncalled for, and instead of posting in reply of it, you should have reported it to the Mod's.

This forum has rules and those will be enforced - since this is a private forum Peter can make any rule he would like.

As it has been said time and time again - if you don't like it, fine.

what rule was broken in this thread except the one that tom corona may have broke, when his comment was edited. I did not see what he posted. But it sounds like he is the only one who may have perhaps broken a rule. As for the other comments "this thread is hilarious", well I just don't get that either. I see nothing that could truly be termed "political" . Unless those comments were also edited, before I had a chance to read them, in which case editing is the right thing to do.

That is why we have threads like this that drag on and on - we don't go out of our way to edit posts, but everytime we do, people jump all over the mod's on why we do what we do.
YES - there were comments you didn't see that were very political - I believe that the reason Tom's post was edited, was because he had replied to the post - since I wasn't the Mod that deleted the comments for all I know he might have used words that aren't allowed here on CT.
What it comes down to is this - it doesn't really matter -
It is between the member, and the Moderator Team - there is no reason to keep talking about it and going on and on about the rules.

Glad all is well. In actuality, this thread is not hilarious, just Doug's response to Tom from a previous history was hilarious to me. Anyway, this thread was about your wife, Mr biggie and sacrificing a coin for her benefit. You did the right thing and it turned out to be a win/win. That's the best.

Not your fault biggie...all mine there. Long story short there, was I got a post of mine edited for pretty much the same thing that some others get away with routinely. Your post allowed me to point out the hypocrisy by siting something you said that was similar. Sorry I dragged you into that, but not sorry I pointed it out. I can point it out and they can edit me, which is what happened there IMHO.
