As you might surmise from my username, I like late Roman bronze. I just completed an educational page which gives an illustrated type set of AE of Magnus Maximus, 383-388. http://augustuscoins.com/ed/ricix/MagnusMaximus.html It is part of my large site on late Roman AE types from AD 364-450 (Valentinian and later). http://augustuscoins.com/ed/ricix/ There are links to types sets of the other late Roman emperors (some of which just have the table of types, but are not yet illustrated). Here is one of the seven AE types issued for Magnus Maximus: Magnus Maximus 14 mm. 1.35 grams. 6:30. SCON. RIC IX, Arles 28, R. "The rare AE4 vota coins of the larger module [This type] were probably struck at the beginning of Maximus' reign," p. 56. Only for Magnus Maximus. Only at Arles. RIC has it only "R", but it is seldom seen in any condition and I think "very rare" is more like it. By the way, as I write this there are none on vcoins or MA-Shops. Show us your coins of Magnus Maximus!
