Hi folks! As many of you may know, I primarily focus on Roman silver coinage of the 4th century CE, though sometimes I will get a few AE's. After my Theodosius II Siliqua tore a hole in my wallet, I made up my mind not to spend more that $12 on a coin for the rest of the year. Luckily for me I found this beauty! Valentinian I AE-3 Unknown weight and diameter Sisca mint SECVRITAS-REIPVBLICAE When I saw this coin, I Ground Pounded it into my cart! Dat Patina!!! Please post your amazing lime green patina coins!
a nice 12 buck coin! i wonder if it will be that color in hand? i'm assuming it's incoming though, do you already have it MM? this coin is a pretty green, i couldn't quite capture it. has lime highlghts...sort of in hand...and sort of not.
Love the color MM. DOMITIAN AE23 OBVERSE: AVT KAISAR DOMITAINOS SEB, laureate head right REVERSE: KIONON MAKEDONWN, Macedonian shield Struck at Koinon of Macedonia, 81-96AD 8.2g, 23mm RPC 336, SNG Cop 1337, Moushmov 5881
Thanks TC! The seller had some nice bargains, but I somehow managed to restrict myself to just this coin.
@> Chris> I want to say 'Faustina' (Egypt) but I don't think I am right. Who is she? Is the obverse legend "FAVCTEINA CEBACTH"? Rev. Artemis? Could it be Faustina Varbanov 880?
Awesome! belive it or not I got a couple of cool coins last weekend for the same price! i found an 1854 seated half dime and a 1794 conder token for 12 bucks each! The coin looks really cool, I was wondering why is the coin (and coins like it) lime green?
Thanks Brandon. I don't think the seller really has any idea of how much his Ancients are worth, I saw a worn and BD infested Caligula Vesta AS sell for .99 cents! I will certainly will be watching his store from here on out. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=patina This may help some.

Some coins get collected because of their color. Sometimes we get lucky and find a coin we wanted anyway that happens to have good color.
Not quite lime green, but a nice green patina on this semuncia. A few spots are a little lighter and I have been watching them but so far they show no signs of being anything active. This semis, though it is irregular and splotchy has some nice greens as well Finally, this little Seleucid bottle cap of Demetrios I Soter has a nice green patina
