magnetic coins

    Is there any way to tell the differance? Wieght maybe?

    Just slap one of those advertising cards made of thin magnetic material, or a refrigerator magnet, on them. If they stick, they're steel, if not, they aren't.

    You aren't one of the 17 people in the western world who don't have any of those, are you? :D

    I guess I should have worded that differant. Like maybe....Is there any other differance like weight maybe?

    The copper coins weigh 2.5 grams, the copper plated zinc 2.25 grams, The plated steel 2.35 garms.

    I just scored 11 war time nickels that look like very poorly struck uncirculated and in protectors. I have plenty other war time pieces from years of collecting but what's got me is every one of these that I just picked up are attracted to a magnet. Does anyone know why this is? Mahalo
