Being from the area of the Historic Battle of Plattsburgh interested in getting more info on this medal. I can't find the mintage of the gold medal version or any past auctions on the value of this medal. A few websites attached on what I have found (might of missed the mintage in these sites) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Macomb_(general) http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v18n36a21.html Thanks in advance.
Just read that Künker will auction "the" Plattsburgh medal at their Berlin auction right before the World Money Fair in February. See page 94 of the WMF catalog for an interesting background article. "As part of its Berlin Auction 285, the auction house Künker offers a Congressional Gold Medal. This is no medal like any other, but the one President Madison handed personally to Alexander Macomb, the Hero of Plattsburgh. We are telling his story." http://www.worldmoneyfair.de/wmf/en/fair-catalog/ (PDF, German/English) Christian
