I wouldn't buy it only because I don't like the looks of the obverse. But, to be honest, I can't tell you if this is fake or not. Can you disclose who suggested it was fake?

I like the portrait on the second coin much better than the first.

When it comes to seeing if a coin is a fake, here is my process:

    1. Try to find match in published collections like BM.
    2. Look to see if there is evidence of casting, i.e. soft details in protected areas. Problem with this approach with ancients is sometimes patina can be so thick as to make it appear to be softness associated with casting.

While I like coin 1 more, it is more troubling but that could simply be due to thick toning. I would research the coins and compare with published examples, or talk to people more expert than I. I know I don't have much of a clue in certain areas, right @Mat ? :)

i had put mine coins at Forvm acient there, and a Domitian collector said that are nice coins
Nice coins, this series is my favorite!

By the way you references should be corrected: the first coin is RIC 627 (old 387), BMCRE 438A, C. 92: old RIC 383 is the dupondius (radiate head).

For the second coin the new RIC reference is 623 (old 385a).

i am now happy:happy: thank you all

FWIW, I can't see anything alarming about these coins just from the photos. Innocent until proven guilty.

"Nice coins" by the way. ;)
