I bet some of the "victims" are actually buying gifts for their coin collector friends or relatives. They are just trying to buy us something nice for our birthdays!!! Like me buying jewelry for my wife...I always overpay and get something she hates. Not intentionally mind you, but out of ineptitude. Finally she just told me to never buy her jewelry. I'm good with that.
I've seen too many people bring in their deceased parents coin collection purchased from TV with invoices in the tens of thousand of dollars. The coins were barely worth over, if, face value. It should be a crime. I'm sure he laughs all the way to the bank, but morals like that are bound for their deserve.
They were talking yesterday about the price of gold being $1,500+ an ounce. It is under $1,200. They must be using really old clips. Can't believe they would put this on the air when the price of gold and silver are at 20 year lows.
If all the politicians of late can say what they do and not see any consequences for it - I believe what these guys are doing is small potatoes! But I tell ya what I'm gonna do. If you agree to buy today, I will guarantee that this is the lowest price I can offer you on this exact item today! Would someone wearing this jacket lie?
I've seen both of those shows, and yes, they are the worst on TV. Can you imagine what the Florida real estate they sell is really like? Must be swamp land.
A few months ago I was switching channels and saw a coin advertisement. This one was being done by Pat Boone. Yes, that Pat Boone, the 1950's singer and television star, who recorded "April Love" and "Love Letters in the Sand".
Its sad but there are a lot of people that think, "it has to be true or they would not be allowed to advertise it."
The amazing thing is that people really buy those overgrown plots of land and repos sight unseen. People always think they are smarter than those that make a living ripping people off.
I've seen them use "Uncirculated to Fine condition" (implying that Fine is better than Uncirculated) while showing an Uncirculated coin.
I saw one where the guy was selling silver. You could get bars or eagles and only $29.95 per oz. no matter whether you bought 1 or 1 million oz.
I accidently clicked on it this morning, and saw Mike hawking gold, showing how it had jumped during January, and was at deal at about $1200+ an ounce, and going up! I gagged, and changed the channel-- quickly
I especially like the gold plated crap. For whatever reason, you could gold plate a dog turd and people would buy it.
