To illustrate, take a look at this French Indochine 50 cents. Notice how in the first picture, the coin looks very nice. There is cartwheel luster around the outside of the wreath, but not really inside. Look now at the second picture, how suddenly at the right angle, a whole bunch of parallel lines show up and it seems to glow.
