This is exactly why I took down my Paper Money collection from a public site!
I was starting to get some weird email requests....ever since I shut it down..it has been quite!! I Like it that way!!

I will post a few notes here and there but never all of them unless it is my own site and I can control it...

Why is having a po box ick?

Thank you so much. See, I live all the way on the other side of the country so now I am feeling much more at ease about this story. If I lived in the northeast I wouldn't feel as comfortable as I do right now. Yes, seeing as how this is a coin forum it is always recommended to post about coins and nothing more, though exceptions do come up sometimes. :)

That's an illusion of safety you are living with.
    Such things happen everywhere.

Yes, I know --you are 100% correct. But in regards to this particular situation I feel better knowing that this person operated out of New York and not say, San Diego (which I don't live in but live in the general region there of).

I'm assuming its ick just because it costs money, and because of the inconvenience of having to go somewhere to get your mail. I'm thinking about getting one myself though, just for security.

Theft occurs in the hands of carriers as well, particularly at sort facilities and behind the scenes of branches... so what is a PO Box going to do for anyone's security unless every parcel is shipped via Register Insured mail, Signature Required since you still must walk or drive home and store you coin & currency in your home or within an SDB at a bank? Security is most secure when you do not speak about such things that disclose weaknesses that can be compromised.

Yes, not speaking about it is good for security. We're talking about your home being robbed when you're not there though. If you have coins and coin publictations etc sent to a PO box rather then your home, and can give people your PO box number instead of your home address when they are sending you coins then they would HAVE to follow you home from the post office rather then going straight to the home address you gave them, making it more likely for a crook like the one we're discussing to choose an easier target. IMO.

That's exactly why it's ick. I don't want the added expense right now. On the flip side, I don't want my house broken into.
