Wow, quite the long thread here T$... but when I list coins on a BST Forum I almost always get a few offers that I consider lowball based on going retail prices (or even the going wholesale prices). Usually they are from dealers looking to make a few bucks. Usually I just say no and give them my best price. But sometimes I'll take the deal if I was in the coin very cheap and just wanted to sell quickly.

For the quarter eagles you have, I do think $200 is too low. At a large show like the upcoming ANA I'd almost guarantee that you'd be able to find at least one dealer there (and probably more than that) that would pay you full greysheet bid ($245) for the PCGS slabbed AU coin since they would then mark it up 10-25% or so from there to retail prices in the $275-$300 range. I think your starting price of $285 wasn't unreasonable as if it's a PQ example in a PCGS holder, a retail buyer looking for that particular coin would probably be happy to pay your price (or close to it).

If they were my coins and I thought they were strong examples in PCGS holders, I wouldn't sell for less than greysheet bid unless I really had to. And before doing that, I'd list them on eBay first at a starting price of greysheet bid + the selling fees. Done that several times with much success and typically the coins will sell for more than I expected even after fees since a lot more folks see the coin that on these BST forums.

Forgot who said it earlier in the thread, but if you're dealer only pays you bluesheet for your slabbed coins I'd probably shop around for a new person to sell to... bluesheet prices are based on sight-unseen coins and are sometimes much lower than wholesale prices for sight-seen coins (greysheet) and are surely much less than the going retail prices for a decent looking coin. Would love to buy nice looking coins at the Bluesheet prices!!!!
