Speaking of men who give you Copper Fever. John Wright certainly played a part. First with his column in COINAGE (I think; he responded to my question about a blank cent error) and then later with an evening of copper at his home. He and Mabel were perfect hosts.
It's a S-293 which is considered the over-date. I can't see the 2 on even the nicest coins. But the close star to the right and the CC rotation of both the 1 and 3 are distinctive to this die. But I'm always a little hesitant to confirm a variety base on just one side, even if there is only one known pairing. I'm always on the lookout for the mule or new die.
