Until now, I have not owned any Philip II bronze coins primarily because I saw nothing interesting in the bronzes. They all appeared to be nearly the same. However, I came across this group of four with different devices and realized what I had been misssing. In this group there is a Spearhead, a Bull Butting right, a retrograde P, and Skull of an OX. Since I purchased these a few weeks ago, I have been paying particular attention to the devices on these. What an interesting set this might be to try to put together. BTW, this entire group cost less than $40. Not bad, eh?
Forty bucks for four decent and different Philip II bronzes? I'd say that's a steal. Congrats Man I love collecting ancient coins!!
Very nice. I bought some many years ago butgave them away because I wasn't interested in Greeks at that stage. Four nice coins each with it's own interest. Bravo.
Nice find, Bing! I like these small, thick coins. Here's the set in all four orientations that I collected earlier in the year, then sold. It was fun hunting for these - maybe I'll just do it all over again...
Wonderful find @Bing !!! I would think two would sell for what you paid for all four!! They all have eye-appeal and enough variation to make them all interesting!! Not to mention they are of PHILIP II .....and historically fascinating!! Congrats coin buddy!!!!
yeah, that's a great price...i think i paid about 30 for this one...and i was happy. it has the little ox skull as well, i think the minor devices are cool on these.
Great new additions, big bro (congrats) ... the example with the horse facing left is my favourite (very cool) ... I have a righty-righty example as well ... Ummm, although on second-look => I really like your 2nd example with the sweet 1/2-bull symbol in exergue Hey, my coin-friend => all of them are fricken cool for $40
