Hi there! I apologize for being a complete novice here...I'm actually hoping for a bit of advice. My boyfriend is a bit of a coin collector (more of a precious metals enthusiast, but most of his investment is in coins). Years ago a friend of his gave him a lovely gold coin as a present, and he carried it around with him ever since as a sort of good luck charm. Sadly he lost it on a recent trip to NYC - we hunted around everywhere and unfortunately it looks as if it's gone for good. With Christmas coming up, I wanted to get him a replacement gold coin, but I'd like to put a bit of thought into it as well and get him something that would appeal to the collector in him as well as just matching the bullion value of the original coin. I would like to spend up to $100-$150 and I think he'd be more intrigued by something domestic (US) rather than foreign. Does anyone have any ideas for particularly noteworthy, historic or otherwise interesting gold coins I can hunt for on Ebay in that price range? I want to get him something fairly special.

I understand this is a very broad question, so thanks in advance for any tips or pointers!
