My latest auction win. I got this 1974 mint set yesterday and I quickly checked out the coins under the scope. I found this - what appears to be doubling on the date and mint mark. I didn't take pics of the full coin because it's still in the packaging, therefore I'm only showing the date and mint mark. My question is would it be worth removing from the mint packaging - something I hesitate doing. I know it's my decision, am I being too paranoid? Thanks: Lou 52.jpg

I can tell you a bit about the Mint Mark.

It can't be Doubled Die because mint marks were hand punched onto to die in that year.
Could be a small Die Break/Chip.

Leave in the mint package as it’s not a doubled die.

I do see some type of notching there. Not sure if this is a worn die issue or not. Also, I would not know the class of doubling if it is doubled. This type of notching is more likely seen on the Shield Cents.
