    John Skelton Morgan man!

I have also wondered what coins from the Old Testament period are available. Probably not as many and more expensive.

for grins, I used your description to find:
    Cr257.1 BFI.jpg
is the coin in question? I found this one on acsearch.info. A description of the coin should read -
    Roman Republican Silver (AR) Denarius
    Mint - Rome
Est Mint Date - 130 BC
    Money magistrate - M. Vargunteius
Obv - Helmeted head of Roma r.; behind, M VARG; before, *
Rev - Rv. Jupiter in quadriga r., holding thunderbolt, reins and branch; in ex., ROMA.
    3.77 grams
    20 mm diameter
    die axis 8h
    Extremely fine.
    Crawford 257/1
Roman Silver Coins (or Babelon) Vargunteia 1
    Sydenham 507
Sold by - Bertolami Fine Arts Auction 6, lot 545

this is a fairly common coin and can be found at modest prices

Interesting, but the date range, I believe, would put it the period between the treatments.

I was bidding on this coin on ebay but it quickly got way too expensive for me.
And it did NOT look as good as the one you posted.

I do not mean to hijack this thread, but I can not wait to see photographs of the Holy Relics you acquired, @Deacon Ray. I can't imagine what they could be. I realize you are busy so I won't pester you about seeing them more than to say that I will enjoy seeing them whenever you can share them with us. :)
