Lookie what I found.

There I was bringing home my once a week box of halves. No big deal. Nothing special. Hopefully, I'll nab a few 90 percenters or some 40's. More than likely, I'll get skunked. Voila, 1000 2021 P halves. These photos were from the second of two boxes. Now I have 2000!

How did this happen. With as many halves that are in Federal Reserve vaults gathering dust. They release, well, NIFS's? Interesting, huh?

With quarters in seemingly short supply I'm seeing halves given out in change at a few places. I received halves at a fast food drive thru and 2 different gas station/convenience stores.

 

They aren't NIFC.
They were minted for circulation this year. Probably to help with the coin shortage.
So far 7.7 million Denver halves have been minted and 5.4 million Philly halves have been minted.

Save a few rolls. Sell some to your LCS and search the others. Never know what you’ll find.

 

There is someone from the Fed here, who reads your posts and he sent a few choice boxes to your bank.

yes, they were issued for circulation. Several of the hobby publications have had articles about this.

 

@cplradar was wondering what NIFS ment and I gave the answer.
