Been so long I hope this is a good place to post. Haven't collected any coins or even bought any bullion for about 4 years, sadly my last job that paid well was discontinued and have only been working part time. Been wanting to restart my collection as I had to sell all of what I had to help pay bills so though it be motivation to visit the site again and make some post. For those of you that don't know me I am really into Walking Liberty Half's and Standing Liberty Quarters, I do like Morgans and Peace dollars but find the two first mentioned coins to be the most beautiful I have ever seen. Well anyway, look forward to seeing what everyone posts and to see what comes along my way.

Welcome back, Joey! I know how it feels when you have no choice about selling your "prized possessions".

Thanks 9ball, I am feeling more motivated already, I am going to be up near the Reno area so I am going to make sure and hit up a shop or 2.

Be sure to check out the Cal Neva Casino on Virginia Ave. They use to have two or three 25c slots that paid out silver dollars and/or SAE's. It's been quite a while since I was there, but it's worth a shot.

You know I am sure my grandfather has been there as I am going with him so I will certainly check it out, Thanks.

Been there, done that. Nice to know your coin passion has returned, despite the downside of going from well paid full-time, to part-time! Been waiting since October, 2012 for L&I, OWCP to adjudicate my on-the-job injury claim, so I know how frustrating and down you can get. It's great that you are back, wish you the best of the best in rebuilding your coin collection.
Have a question for you about mint sets; Have you ever broken out the coins and submitted them for grading to increase/verify their value? Thanks!

No, I have never broken out mint sets to send them in for grading but that was mostly due to never getting the chance to do so. I imagine that once my collection has grown and I have the funds to do so then I just might break some out and send them off for grading.

The reason I'm curious about that strategy is that I have several early mint sets which contain individual coins that are worth much more than the entire set by themselves. Assuming a breakout would grade above MS-60. Thanks again and good luck in all of your collecting fortunes.
