I found this penny ast week in the UK, can anybody identify the king in question? PS
I am new to this forum, live in the Netherlands, been metal detecting for 12 years and of course part of the finds are coins. Very glad with this penny even if only half.

    Henry III?

I don't know. That's purely a wild guess, as he is the most common monarch on Long Cross pennies, I think.

Someone with more knowledge will be able to help you.

just got an identification from an expert (Rob Page)
This is a Henry III long cross penny, class 3, dating to 1248-50 AD. I'm afraid I cannot read the reverse inscription....".
