I went to a smaller coin show before and saw several of the same coins, slabbed at the same grade, one was for $45 the other $55 and another $110, i ended up getting the $55 one because i really like it and because the cheaper one had some spotting on the nose (these were buffalo nickels if anyone wanted to know).

So really it boils down to which one you like and is the price right for it, and as shown prices can be all over the place at shows, large or small.

Today was extremely busy! I heard the line was really long before the show opened - the longest we've seen at any coin show in while. I sold quite a few nice coins today, even one of my beautiful MPLs (though I did buy another one even more beautiful!). I had a couple people help me, including my son, and I needed every bit of their help.

I didn't even get to have some wine until late this afternoon!!

Did you at least look at the MS65BN S-2 that's on display in the Cardinal Collection??? can't wait to see some of those coins, including the MS69BN Wreath Cent!!!!!!

I did look at the Chain ¢s. Truly amazing. I had a chance to talk to Walter Husak who pointed out that two of the Cardinal collection coins used to be his.
There was another large ¢ that had amazing color and luster. I liked that one better than the MS69BN Wreath cent.

As far as my search for a F-12 Chain cent (equiv. to an EAC 10), I struck out. I looked at nearly a dozen chain cents, but they were either lower grade or scudzy. There were two that nice, one a F-12, net G06 that had been worked on that was well within my price range. I just couldn't get past the tooling.
The other was a NGC F-12 EAC net 8, but the price was about 20% above what I was willing to pay (my guess is that he paid more for the coin than it was worth). Oh well, I'll continue to look. The next show I'll go to will be the 53rd Annual Coinarama in San Diego July 24 & 25. In the meantime, if anyone knows of a clean Chain ¢ at the EAC 10 level, private message me.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I won't be there, its the wrong side of the continent for me. But I have been and will continue to watch the Heritage auction live streaming on line, and pretend that I'm there. Hopefully I might even win something.

This Long Beach show wasn't bad, Thursday was packed and busy (I heard the line to get in when the show opened was quite long and wrapped around the hallway), Friday was slow and sluggish, and today was steady. Overall, I had some great sales, bought lots of new material, sold a nice MPL and also bought another gorgeous 1909 MPL. I had taken the month of May off with no shows, and I actually missed seeing some of my dealer and customer buddies so it was great seeing them, having dinner and wine together - Rick, Karin, Brian, Todd, Roger, and several others. I also brought my bluish green 1894/94 Indian cent for Todd to photograph and was able to show it off in hand to several people. I also brought more Conder tokens for Todd to photograph. I even found a really nice 1858 SL Flying Eagle for my personal collection.

I always enjoy the Long Beach show since I have many local regulars that stop by, chat, peruse, and buy some of my coins. Got to see a few forum members, some of whome stopped by and asked about my wine but I was swamped at the time they were there and hadn't even opened a bottle yet, so I apologize and hope they try again!

Also saw Brad's (Achanthite) most excellent Egyptian exhibit! It was so educational and easy to understand, very interesting, and I even learned a little on how to read an Egyptian coin! You can tell he put a lot of time and effort into this wonderful exhibit (I think he took second place!). Kudos and a big thanks Brad for taking the time to put this together just for our enjoyment and education.

Almost forgot to mention, I submitted the 1914-D that's in my personal collection to PCGS for SecurePlus (I had previously crossed it from the NGC holder to PCGS) - can't wait to see what they do!

Had a great time at the show. Bought a bunch of stuff, sold a couple of coins too and even consigned a couple more.

Saw Brad's exhibit and some of the others that were on display... Very neat and got me thinking about maybe doing an exhibit one of these days.

Saw the partial display of the Duckor Halves at the Heritage table which was AWESOME! Didn't get to see the Cardinal collection of cent because they had already had them packed up which was really lame as it was one of the advertised exhibits, not right to not have it on display until the end!!! The Cardinal collection did have a 1794 type set in Mint State that was really neat to see though, so it wasn't a total loss.

Was a busy show for a Saturday, saw lots of current (and former) forum members. Another fun day playin' with coins in the LBC. :)

From my perspective the show was good, very crowded Thursday, next two days were slower. The slow days allow more opportunity to sit and talk with dealers. I appreciate the comments from everyone on my exhibit, I hope to keep doing them. Was able to pick up some US type set material including an IHC from Charmy. Mexican colonial and older independent coins are getting scarcer, there were very few pillar fractionals available. Picked up a Guadalajara cap and rays 8 reales with overdate and over assayer, some common Colombian 1 centavo RPDs, an octagonal Assam fractional rupee, Peru 1/5 soles with great toning, and various other US and non-US coins.

    Is this English??
Anyway, super congrats on the exhibit and hopefully you can do another one. How would one go about setting up an exhibit, and how would you even be in the position where someone would ask you to have an exhibit?
