I think I'm still a little hazy on the rules, the OP has post numbers and if we happen to make that post we win?

Well, for these types of coins I'd prefer them slabbed, so I would tend to lowball. I think the furthest I'd go would be $200 unslabbed.

too many people rely on tpgs for the guarantee of authenticity and for the grade. if i were to buy a slabbed coin, it would be for the guarantee only, not the grade. grading is only opinion. anyone with a brain will tell you that grading is subjective. however, there are many people with much more experience and knowledge in a given series than others. example, indian head cents... i feel comfortable enough to judge the grade of an ihc, and even purchase a raw 1877. however, i don't know enough about the series to know a 1909-s is authentic to buy it unslabbed.

as far as the market goes, many collectors don't know how to grade, nor have done the research to know how to spot a fake, so they rely on a tpg to do it all for them. this is reflected in the price. people say there isn't/shouldn't be a difference in the price between a raw coin and a slabbed coin, but there is.

111 has always been a lucky number, and good things tend to happen to me at 1:11 too!

Ratpack7: If the coin is worth that much I would go ahead and slab it. (I don’t know too much about variety and error coins…sorry)
