Livonia was the historical province in Baltic region. Since 1561 until 1621 a bigger part of Livonia was under the Polish rule. Then Swedish king Gustaf II Adolf conquerred Livonia and proclaimed it Swedish possession. Livonia belonged to Swedes until 1721 when Russia has won the Northern War (1700-1721) and joined Livonia to itself. Livonia was a part of the Russian Empire until 1918 and then - became a part of Latvia and Estonia.
