OK, thought I would throw together a "Guess the Counterfeit" if any for a post here...

Images of 5 1806 C-1 small "6", no stems half cents; a couple are in TPG holders.

I would appreciate thoughts on your choices!

Which are "Live" and which are "Memorex"?

    Best, Jack.

Here's a hint. More than one are fake.

As you know, Jack, I know which ones, but I'll let others try to figure it out.

    I don't collect these, but will guess #3 & #5 are fake.

I sure can't tell the diff. I only buy the tough coins if are graded.

1 & 5 look odd to me. They look like trimmed Large Cents.

1, 3, 5 are fake. They all have the same hits on the reverse.

I think #2 is the only "real" one of the bunch. Just a guess.

1,3,5 are fakes. Agree with messydesk regarding reverse hits on the reverse. The eye is also not quite right on the obverse on these. I will continue to look for other markers.

These two are in TPG holders and cropped to not show the prongs:D...

I wouldn't have any of them, no eye appeal in my opinion.

    Thanks, but not the question!

I don't like numbers 1, 3 and 5. There is something wrong with the reverse lettering in #1 unless it's the photo. Number 3 has a coat of the usual Chinese toning, and the detail on the obverse does not match up the reverse. Number 5 appears to have the same reverse as number 1 and some more Chinese toning.

I might add that this stuff is very scary. Back when I was collecting these coins in '80s, I would have been fooled.

Thanks! I'll add 3 to the 1 & 5 due to the marks. What are all of the marks in the fields of 2 & 4? Porosity or pitting? I have little to no talent picking out fakes. I picked 1 & 5 because they looked bigger than the others, probably optical illusions. #3 because of messydesk's comment. I hope all 5 are not fake.

I agree. If these fakes would been around 20 years ago, they would have fooled everyone on the planet except for Jack.

This is tough all small 6 stemless. 5 has the best matching date. My WAG is 5 is real and the rest are fake.

Edit: after looking at my example in hand I change my vote to #2 as real. Both 1 and 5 have the same hit on the a in half on the reverse. 3 just looks off and not sure about 4...

I checked yours and it does not have any of the matching attribution marks of the documented fakes.
