True, but it would not make sense to have coin folders (at least not the Whitman/Littleton kind) shipped here in pieces - the labor intensive part is assembling them.

Also, the "made in..." law is US, so anyone shipping to the US has to mark their stuff, regardles sof what the local law is where it was made. Sometimes they get around this by using a removabke sticker or marking a wrapper that can be removed.

Anyway, Littletons are probably made in the USA, but they are not as good as Whitman - even the Chinese Whitman folders of today.

As I always understood it, it was our own fault that Japanese products were cheap. The Js could make a good/excellent product, but US businessmen went there for cheap labor and paid for cheap products. If they had paid for more expensive workmanship and materials, they could have gotten a better product.

JBK: I'm sure you believe that. However, in reality just because something is law don't make it so. So many items are made in other countries today, shipped here and sold without any name or a fony name. Many items although marked with a brand name also have the brand name spelled slightly different so as to fool the public. For inatance one item I've seen lately is for batteries with names like DinoCell, DuroCel, Durocelll, etc., etc. I've seen cameras with names like Nekon, Nikoon, etc. After a while you don't know how to really spell anything. If some country was mass producing the Littleton albums in pieces for less than a cent it would still pay to slap them together in a factory where people are well under paid and if you don't think there are such places, then what else can I say.

They just returned the three books I had sent them to look at. They used a box knife to open my padded envelope and sliced into the front cover of one of the books. They mailed them back to me in even worse condition than they were when I sent them in originally. Really kind of adds insult to injury. Never buy from Littleton

You're talking about illegal imports (knockoffs, counterfeits). These are of course outside of the law's provisions. The one thing I would not accuse Littleton of is illegally importing stuff.

BTW - I just looked at the Littleton folder and it says "Made in USA".

Are you questioning the meaning of mao or do you know and you are questioning whether it applies? if it is the former it stands for "my *$$ off"; if it's the latter, I thought so. Nothing quite as funny as digging up your old thread to remind us that you strongly dislike Littleton. ;)

I wonder if anyone has contacted Littleton as to this post? If so, maybe they will et the hint.

Littleton won't take the hint. No coin dealer will ever take the hint. I don't know whether being a coin dealer makes a person incompetent to run a business, or if incompetent people are just attracted to becoming coin dealers. But the business practices considered "normal" in this business wouldn't be tolerated in any other. It just isn't Littleton. I've been waiting for just about 3 months to get my last order from Mintproducts.com. I guess it's time to send them another email and get back the same old response that they will send it out any day now.

The rather unfortunate thing is that their CEO David Sundman, looks so much like Stuart Little, but that is beside the point :)

Yeah. I'm done with them. I got sick and tired of reciving overpriced approval items, so I wrote them a letter, about, how according to the red book, they were overpticed. They sent a letter back, with several lousy exuses as to why they are over priced: "We haven't yet found a way to have the lowest prices..." Yeah right.

Companies like litleton are just pure crap, now I am a business student about to graduate "yessss" and I can tell you how simple the bus. model is ( and good). I began collecting only a few months ago and Knew nothing but I was very aggressively purchasing coins, some of them make me laugh now that I ve read a few books but hey.... They prey on the folks without a redbook in front of them and its really just sad.

I will e-mail them a copy of this thread when its done and hopefully they will open their eyes
