Finally got my first Ptolemy hockey puck, its a 'small' one but I like it a lot. Ptolemy VI-VIII Bronze Coin (Ca. 180 B.C. -145 B.C.) Alexandria mint. Obverse: Diademed head of Zeus Ammon right. Reverse: ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, two eagles standing left on thunderbolt, wings closed, cornucopiae in front. 23,51g / 28mm The coin is probably from some time in the mid-2nd C. BC. Could be Ptolemy VI, VIII, VI + VIII or Cleopatra II + VIII (unfortunately they didn't had dates like their Seleukid neighbours). The little circle mark on the reverse is almost certainly made during 'lathing' prior to striking the coin with dies. Share your Ptolemy hockey pucks here!
It's a very nice example of the type! I just reposted this group shot recently but will oblige . The coins in this virtual tray range in size from 48 mm (91.8 gm) to 14 mm (1.7 gm).
