Wow!! => that is a fantastic kissin' deer coin!! (very, very cool) Hats-off to Ionia Ephesos, my friend!! (bravo)
Every time I see the title, it reminds me of the quote in Gladiator: "Commodus: If you're very good, tomorrow night I'll tell you the story of emperor Claudius who was betrayed by those closest to him, by his own blood. They whispered in dark corners and went out late at night and conspired and conspired but the emperor Claudius knew they were up to something. He knew they were busy little bees. And one night he sat down with one of them and he looked at her and he said, "Tell me what you've been doing busy little bee or I shall strike down those dearest to you. You shall watch as I bathe in their blood." And the emperor was heartbroken. The little bee had wounded him more deeply than anyone else could ever have done. And what do you think happened then, Lucius? Lucius Verus: I don't know, uncle. Commodus: The little bee told him everything."
Thank you for the comments, here's my first Bee!!! Ionia, Ephsos..Ae, Bee in wreath. Stag standing right.. 19mm x 3.53g. Dark green patina.. Yes jw, i remember that part of the movie!! I raised honey bees when i was young, a hive could have over 100,000 bees, i have a long way to go to make a hive... this bee image is more like a queen bee.where my first image is more like a worker bee. some bees on coins look like yellow jackets.
My tiny Ephesian bee doesn't stand up to the rest of the coins in this thread, but I wasn't really looking to buy it - a dealer threw it into to one of my lots for an extra ten bucks...
Hey brother, if you want it, you can have it - as a token of our friendship. Just PM me your address.
You don't have to do that, but I appreciate it. One of these days though I will find a bee coin. Thanks my coin brother.
Opaz, i only have collected ancient bee coins, modern ones not so much. Great worker lookin' bee big John...
